Last week, the first workshop in the BosomShield project was hosted by the IBIB PAN (Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences) in Warsaw.
Our Ph.D. candidate, Yaqeen Ali, presented his achievements towards federated learning approaches for breast cancer classification. The entire workshop discussion focused on how AI is shaping medical imaging, particularly in breast cancer. Many thanks to our partners from Universitätsklinik Bonn, INSIGHTEC, and Fraunhofer MEVIS for a great collaboration in the concluded project tcFUScontrol funded by ZIM. We aimed at developing an Advanced Therapy Control System for transcranial MR-guided Focused Ultrasound for Essential and Parkinson’s Tremor.

The consortium made progress in using Arterial Spin Labeling (ASL) MR images to measure the permeability of the blood brain barrier (BBB). Apart from that, a software tool for easier therapy planning computing the location of nerve fibre tracks in the brain based on Diffusion Tensor Imaging was developed.
